Westcode Field · App privacy
Your field notebook stays on your device.
This page describes the current Westcode Field mobile demonstration for iPhone and Android. Updated October 26, 2026.
What the app does
Westcode Field is built by Westcode, an independent studio in British Columbia. The field, wells and telemetry are fictional. The app generates simulated readings and lets you record observations, tank collections and shift handovers. It does not connect to live equipment or a production monitoring system.
What is saved
The notebook stores manual oil-rate and tubing-pressure observations, written notes, tank collection volumes and ticket references, save times, local alert acknowledgments, and handover titles, notes, unresolved items and snapshots of the simulated field.
These records are stored locally using AsyncStorage. The app does not add encryption to this storage. Use fictional information while evaluating the demo, and do not enter confidential operational or personal information.
Accounts, analytics and synchronization
The current mobile app has no account system, advertising, app analytics or cloud synchronization. Westcode does not automatically receive your notebook records. The mobile notebook is separate from the web demonstration and from records on other people’s phones.
When you choose to share
The Share handover button opens your device’s native share sheet. A copy of that handover, including its written notes and captured field information, is passed to the app or destination you choose. Review it before sending. The receiving app and recipient handle the shared copy under their own settings and policies; deleting your local notebook does not recall a shared copy.
Retention, deletion and backups
The app retains the latest 100 observations across all wells, 100 collection records across all tanks, and 40 handovers. Oldest records are removed when these limits are reached. The demonstration scenario resets after 24 hours; the retained notebook archives remain.
Uninstalling the app removes its local notebook from the device. Offloading an app may keep its data. Your operating system may include app data in a device backup or restore it later, depending on your settings. Manage those backups through your device or backup provider. Westcode does not operate a notebook backup or recovery service.
Beta testing and device diagnostics
If you test an iOS build through TestFlight, Apple collects beta usage and crash information and shares information with the developer. Feedback you submit may also include screenshots, comments and contact details. This is separate from the app’s local notebook. We use the diagnostic information and feedback made available to us to investigate problems and improve the app.
Apple explains these data flows and retention in TestFlight & Privacy. Operating-system diagnostics, backup services and any app you share to also follow their providers’ settings and policies.
